Tuesday Teez

Tuesday Teez is a great new website that features the best new t-shirt designs on the web every - you guessed it - Tuesday!   I really like  the concept and they feature some fantastic shops, all of which, are from Cafépress.  Some of the shops I have already reviewed here at I Heart Vintage Tees (Detour Designables, Burn Tees, Lekker Designs, K A Designs, KippyGo, Flippin Sweet) and some are new to me that I need to review (get ready Poptastic, Be Green Teez, Geeky Teez, Strk3...).  Overall it's a great site with quality  designs every week, so check Tuesday Teez out! ****

Tee Junction

Tee Junction is a fairly new online t-shirt retailer which specializes in providing original, cool, funny t-shirts. I think they do a really good job at creating original concepts as well as using well-known jokes in new ways. The website is very aesthetically pleasing and nicely laid out. Some of my favorite designs are, "Don't mess with me, I know Sudoku", "The Dude Abides", and "Keytars didn't get old; you did man". ****

Unimental Designs

Unimental Designs has over 200 unique graphics to place on many different products. Their styles include humor, geek & gamer, retro, movies & tv, sports, music, stylin', & politics. Most of their designs have an 'urban' look to them. ***

Kippy Go

Kippy Go is another t-shirt shop with a very distinct style. Their 'State Moto' shirts are some of the best in the business. If you're looking for a wide selection and a nicely laid-out website to browse, give these guys a try. ***

Tees My Body

Tees My Body began in mid-2006 by three guys, who love crazy, hilarious t-shirts. They could not find the types of tees that matched their sense of humor on the web though, so they decided to make their own. The style of their shirts is somewhat primitive and completely random, and their prices are quite affordable.

Oolong Tees

Oolong Tees is yet another artist-based t-shirt company, that was born to give artists a wearable showcase for their work. Their artists include Paul Walsh, R.B. Morris III, Brett Millard and many more. Even though there are many of these types of companies nowadays, Oolong Tees are very very unique. They definately give their artists complete creative freedom. ****

Naature Clothing

Naature Clothing was started in 2005 by George Smith and Jason Krieger as a means to expand their artistic vision to the real world via t-shirts. All t-shirts are personally screen printed by both founders and are of the highest quality.

Their tagline, "For Designers, By Designers" tells you everything you need to know about Naature Clothing. The designs offered are all very artistic and abstract. Their website offers a forum to talk about all things design related as well as other off-topic things. ****

Junkytees is run by a DJ/Producer with a knack for screenprinting and designing t-shirts. All the designs are 100% original and printed by hand, resulting in a very unique, vintage look and feel. They now feature many designs that have been created by DJs, to fit the the theme.

Nerdy Shirts

Nerdy Shirts is a design competition site that specializes in, you guessed it, nerdy designs. Every Monday, design judges from Nerdy Shirts will go through all the entrees and choose any that are worthy of being printed. Those chosen will win $200. There are often more than one winner every week, which means plenty of fun new shirts.

Monsieur T.

Monsieur T. is a small apparel company established in early 2004, based out of Portland, Oregon. The designs at Monsieur T. are influenced by a mix of skateboarding, snowboarding and loud music. What I love about this place is that the designs are either printed huge on the tees or are placed somewhere other than front-and-center.

Teetsy is t-shirt design group located in Chicago, Illinois. The designers are all friends and coworkers, and do motion graphics and post-production by day. The online shop features about a dozen t-shirt designs and a few screenprints. It is nice to see a group of artists using a creative outlet like this, because the designs become very organic and non-constricted. ****

Tea and Crumpets

Tea and Crumpets was started in the fall of 2005 by three friends, whose goal was to create the best, most original shirts and accessories. Everything is screenprinted by hand and is available in limited quanties, to ensure that what you are getting will be unique and original. Something that is a little different than a lot of t-shirt sites, is the ability to blog or comment about each design (similar to Threadless). ****

Lucha Workshop

Lucha Workshop is an independent, artist-run shop, specializing in bags, plush bags, comics and awesome t-shirts. If you are a fan of hand drawn tees, you'll love the ones at Lucha Workshop. They have a great vintage style to them and are printed in very wearable colors. If you have extra time, check out their bags too. ****

"The focal point of our company is our Artists. How they interpret a particular idea, and how that idea looks on a shirt, determines whether a customer is going to buy, plain and simple."

Oddica is a brand new online store, and is one of the best I've seen. Their "artists first" philosophy works out perfectly with the audience they appeal to. The designs are pieces of art, which gives them an advantage over other sites that are just fonts and clipart. I love that they give you a preview of new shirts that are coming soon to keep you interested. Their prices are reasonable and they have great sales, so check them out. *****

Detour Designables

Detour Designables offers one of a kind vintage tees with funny sayings, with many different themes such as Scion XB, LOST, MacGyver and Statehood T-Shirts for every state in the US. Their designs are pretty simple, but are still hip and stylish. I really am impressed with the site design they most. It looks great and is easy to navigate. ****

Go Ape Shirts

Go Ape Shirts is a small t-shirt company run out of Arizona. They're brand new, so there are only a few tee designs at the moment, but those that they have are great. Series 1 is available now and features "Can You Hear Me Now?" by Julian Glander, "The Persistence of Rock" by Graphicairlines, "Boo Boo Walker" by Dave Horowitz, and "Reach for the Sky" by Josh Perkins. There are still a few kinks to be worked out on their site (it's underconstruction at the time I'm writing this), but once everything is running smoothly I can tell this will be an amazing t-shirt site to keep your eye on. ****

LaFraise is another t-shirt shop with an ongoing design contest, similar to Threadless. A $1200 prize is given if your design is selected. It is a French site, so the style is a little bit different than others, and the prices are a bit steeper. The quality designs here are top-notch though. There is an option to view the site in English, but there are a few things that still are not translated (and I've had to look up the translation online! haha). Overall though, the best contest site I've seen other than Threadless. *****

VanRockn Apparel

VanRockn Apparel is another brand new shop that opened in April of 2006. They specialize in vintage looking and fitted tees, which are only printed on Apperican Apparel brand. Their selection is small, but each design is very wearable and funny. I really like the color combos that they use as well. ***

Rarified Brand Clothing

Rarified Brand Clothing is a brand new store that prides itself on their originality. To ensure that their customers stay original, they limit production to 500 of each design. Their shirts have an "Authentic Vintage" look to them, because they choose suppliers with the best, softest blank garments and use "old school printing methods to give our stuff a unique vintage look". They only have a few designs at the moment, but from the looks of them I'm sure there will be many more great ones to come. ***

GrooveKing.com reminds me a lot of Defunker, because of their site design and style of t-shirts. They have more 'artsy' designs, rather than 'jokes you can wear'. Many of the vintage tees have similar themes, but are still unique enough to want to own each of them. My favorite designs of their site are of large vehicles being pulled by random things. Overall, GrooveKing's prices are reasonable and quality of design is high. ****

Tuesday, February 07, 2006

SnorgTees.com is run by a group of friends who not only design all the tees, but also fulfill orders, maintain / develop this site, and respond to email themselves. Their designs are mostly pop culture references such as "All About the Hamiltons" from the SNL Lazy Sunday rap, "I'm Kind of a Big Deal" and "Stay Classy San Diego" from Anchorman, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy & Napoleon Dynomite insipired tees. They are partnered with Spreadshirt.com, to allow you to customize your t-shirt if you choose to do so. ***

Johnny Cupcakes

Johnny Cupcakes has some of the most inventive t-shirt designs on the net, all of which include -you've guessed it - cupcakes! The cupcakes are used in almost a parody kind of way, being swapped in usual situations such as: 'Make Cupcakes Not War', The Statue of Liberty's flame, the Partridge Family, and the usual skull and crossbones. They are a little pricey, but I think it can be worth it because of how original they are. *****

Crowded Teeth

Crowded Teeth has a wide selection of products with a unique style of designs to choose from. This place is run by a 23 year old artist who creates the designs in her free time. It's really a beautiful site and the designs are extremely cute. Along with vintage t-shirts, Crowded Teeth has buttons, scarves, pillows, patches, and more! ****

Option-G Apparel

Option-G Apparel came about in 2004, as an extension of the mutual love co-founders Cole Gerst and Michelle Madden share for t-shirts, music, animals and the current independent art scene, ranging from graffiti to graphic design. Their designs are all inspired from things such as electricity, self-help, animal impulses, music and L.A. summers. My favorite designs are PETA • free for all, branch out, and street signs. ****

Funkrush Clothing

Funkrush Clothing is a new t-shirt shop that was 'born and bred in the online ghetto'. The designs at this place are all very original and look great on a shirt. This is another place where you can submit your designs to be printed on t-shirts, only here, you get a commission for each t-shirt sold, instead of cash & prizes. Overall, I really like this place. ****

Thursday, December 01, 2005

Randomshirts.com is another pretty neat vintage t-shirt site. Their designs are all very wearable and funny, including 'Holla!', 'Break Yo' self Fool!', and 'Where My Dogs At?'. Their tees come in regular and ladies sizes and softees for more vintage fit. Not in the mood for a t-shirt? They also have polos, sweatshirts, and posters! Become one of their street soliders and earn extra cash! ***

Powerup Tees

Powerup Tees concept is simple:

About video games.
That are funny.

If you love 'old skool' video games like nintendo or atari, you'll appreciate the humor at Powerup Tees. They have newer references also, but the old ones are my favorites. "Luigi is my homeboy", "My other console is a 2600", and "Duck Hunt Club" are some examples. Very original and good quality of designs. ****

Friday, October 28, 2005

Shamplade.com has a small, but unique selection of vintage t-shirts. The site design is really cool and retro looking (I love the background image and the design in the header). The "My Vacuum sucks, my fan blows, but my fridge is chillin" is so weird, it is definately my favorite design. Their shirts are made to fit slim and are ultra soft, so they definately live up to vintage standards! ***

Spraygraphic Apparel

I just came across Spraygraphic Apparel today, and it has wowed me. All of the designs at this place are pure art and make a statement in some way (not to mention are really well-done). They have a philosophy to find and wear clothes that are thought-provoking and inspiring, not just something that makes you laugh. Along with great t-shirts, they also have jackets, polos, shorts, skirts, and dresses and their site design is smooth and original. *****

Dusty Brand Clothing

Dusty Brand Clothing is one of the most professional looking vintage t-shirt stores that I've seen. Their site is very cleanly laid out and easy to follow. Aside from that, they have some really nicely designed and funny t-shirts. Everything looks like it could be sold at a store like American Eagle. I love the "Mexcellent" and "Humpback Whale" designs. ****

Tuesday, October 25, 2005

Teetastic! Tees Across America has one of the largest selection of vintage state humor tees anywhere. Think you've seen all the state jokes there are? Well, this place has come up with even more! Some hilarious originals include, "Behold my huge throbbing Oregon", "Indiana - Where white kids still play basketball" and "Colorado - This nipple is Aspen". They also have a great selection of political, inappropriate, and Boston Red Sox shirts for you to have fun with. ***

Wednesday, October 19, 2005

Threadless is from the same company that brought you OMG Clothing and it is similar, but at this place, YOU are the designer. After you submit a design, it is put into the running to be scored for 7 days. The designs with the highest scores for that period get printed at Threadless, and their designers win $2000 in cash and prizes! Talk about incentive! If you are not an artist, you can participate by voting on designs (which is extremely fun and addictive!), or just shop their catalog full of unique tees. *****

Rock Star Tees

Rock Star Tees has a nicely set up site, with some very funny t-shirt designs. There is a lot of tongue- in-cheek humor along with a few pop culture references. Check out their "Rock Stars" section for pictures of Real World & Road Rules cast members wearing their shirts. ***

Wednesday, October 12, 2005

WearaTshirt.com has an enormous selection of urban and pop culture tees. They specialize in Laguna Beach & the OC designs, but they also have some great humor, flirt, love, retro, etc. tees. Their designs are customizable, so you can pick whatever style of t-shirt you're after. ****

OMG Clothing

OMG Clothing is a great interactive vintage t-shirt website. How is it 'interactive' you ask? You submit a saying you think would make a good t-shirt; People from all over vote for it; OMG Clothing will get a super talented designer to design an amazing t-shirt from the most popular sayings; If you're chosen, you get $100 cash and a $100 gift certificate. Cool enough for you?? Well start submitting! ****

Orange Shag

OrangeShag.com has some of the coolest 70's and 80's vintage gear around! If you can't find a t-shirt, you might find an awesome pair of sunglasses, belt buckles, retro posters, or some other random vintage stuff you might like! Shop around at their site, and you'll be looking authentic in no time. ***

Local Celebrity

Local Celebrity is probably the biggest brand of vintage t-shirts today. Started by 3 California siblings, this company now sells its shirts in a huge number of stores nationwide. If you've never seen one of their shirts while shopping (on the web or at the mall), well then you must have had your eyes closed. There is a reason why they are so popular though...their shirts are some of the greatest ideas out there, including "I've Got a Black Belt in Keepin' it Real", "Hugs Not Drugs", and "Like OK And Stuff". *****

Lekker Designs

Lekker Designs is a great shop that features "Unique Swag" you can only find there! Check out their collection of Scooter, Geek, and Arrested Development inspired designs. Everything has either a very distressed or groovy feel to it, and is very fun. You can also visit their left-wing (lekkerpolitics) and wedding (lekkerbride) shops while you're there. ***

Dust Junky

Dust Junky features both lesser known independent brands as well as popular mainstream brands of vintage t-shirts. They strive to have the most perfect fitting tees around that have funny and well designed graphics on them. I really like the "Firm Up Your Floppy" design as well as "8 Track - Keep it Real". ***

Wednesday, October 05, 2005

Green Squirrel Shirts is such a fun t-shirt shop. Their designs look almost child-like, but they have an incredible humor to them that you can't resist. My favorite designs have to be "The Easter Bunny is a Klepto", "Broccoli is Evil", and "Peanuts are People Too". They say their shirts are Emo, and not vintage, since they aren't actually old and crusty. Don't know what Emo is? They'll tell you! Just one more reason to check them out :) ****
